Nagoya Coffee Festival 2025 at Hisaya Odori Park

On November 3, 2025 — a national holiday in Japan — I visited the Nagoya Coffee Festival, held at the northern area of Hisaya Odori Park, around Shibafu Hiroba and Keyaki Hiroba. The event brought together about 30 cafés and coffee roasters from Nagoya and Aichi, all serving their best brews in the open air.
Crowds and Atmosphere

When I arrived around 1:00 p.m., I was amazed by the size of the crowd. Each booth had a long line of people eagerly waiting for their favorite cup of coffee. The weather was perfect — warm sunlight, a gentle breeze, and blue skies — an ideal day to enjoy coffee outdoors.
Because it was so crowded, I decided to have lunch somewhere else and return later in the afternoon. When I came back around 3:30 p.m., the crowd had slightly thinned, making it much easier to order.
Trying Kyowa Coffee’s Dark Roast

This time, I tried a Colombian coffee from Kyowa Coffee, a specialty coffee bean store located in Nakagawa Ward, Nagoya. When you purchase coffee there, they give you a number card, and once your number is called, you exchange it for your freshly brewed cup. The staff brewed each cup by hand using a careful hand-drip method, and their beans are roasted over high-quality charcoal.

The result was a rich, full-bodied dark roast — very different from the light and fruity coffees often served at stylish cafés in Nagoya. I loved its deep aroma and bold flavor.

Family-Friendly Vibe

Between Keyaki Hiroba and Shibafu Hiroba, the street was turned into a pedestrian-only zone, with play equipment set up for children. Families relaxed on the grass while kids played nearby, creating a warm and lively atmosphere that made the event feel like a city-wide coffee picnic.
Why You Should Visit

With so many local roasters gathered in one place, the Nagoya Coffee Festival is the perfect event for anyone looking to discover new coffee spots in Nagoya or simply enjoy a relaxing day surrounded by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
