A shrine connected to Kasuga Taisha shrine in Nara.
A shrine located at the southeastern end of Osu Shopping Street. It has a long history, reportedly founded in 948. However, it was completely destroyed during wartime and later rebuilt. As the name “Kasuga Shrine” suggests, it is connected to Kasuga Taisha in Nara, which is known as a deer shrine. This shrine enshrines a deity shared with Kasuga Taisha. Similar Kasuga Shrines can be found throughout Japan.
The shrine is located near Kamimaezu Station, facing a busy main street with heavy foot traffic, yet the shrine grounds are usually empty. When I went there, of course there were no one. The area is well-maintained, keeping its beauty intact. .
The Osu area is rich in historical sites, including temples, shrines, and ancient burial mounds. Exploring every corner of this area is quite fascinating
