Café Magnet in Mizuho Ward

I recently visited Café Magnet in Mizuho Ward, Nagoya, and I’d like to introduce what kind of place it is through photos.
The café is located about a five-minute walk from Horita Station on the subway. It’s tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood rather than facing a main road, which already gives it a relaxed, local feel.

The café itself is quite spacious. Including the counter seats, I’d estimate there are around 30 seats in total. I visited on a Saturday afternoon, and it was fairly busy. Since it’s surrounded by houses, it felt like a place where local residents naturally gather on weekends.

There are two counter seating areas. One is directly in front of the kitchen, and the other is along the wall, as shown in the photo above. I chose the counter seat by the wall.

One nice feature of this counter area is that it has power outlets. You can charge your phone or work on a laptop, which makes it suitable for light remote work. With plenty of seating available, it also feels like you can stay a little longer without worrying about bothering the café.

Free Wi-Fi is available as well. The speed was around 88 Mbps, which is perfectly fine for browser-based work. I didn’t experience any issues while working online.
After placing my order, I realized that one of the café’s specialties is their white Mont Blanc dessert. A couple sitting behind me ordered it, and the staff actually demonstrated the Mont Blanc being made right in front of them, pouring the cream on the dessert. It seems you’re even allowed to film the process.

Completely unaware of this signature item, I ordered a coffee called Shibuya Blend instead. I’m not entirely sure what makes it “Shibuya,” but it was a rich, full-bodied coffee and very enjoyable. At around 500 yen, it also felt reasonably priced given current inflation.
Café Magnet is a calm, hidden gem — the kind of place that’s perfect for spending a slow, relaxing afternoon away from the crowds
