A Quiet Coffee Break at BAKERY Kyoto Katsurabettei in Hisaya Odori, Nagoya
If you’re exploring Nagoya and looking for a peaceful spot to relax with good coffee and freshly baked bread, BAKERY Kyoto Katsurabettei is a hidden gem worth checking out. It’s located in the underground shopping area near Hisaya Odori Subway Station, making it easy to access even on a rainy day.
This bakery café is run by OAK FOOD, a long-established bakery from Katsura, Kyoto, known for its high-quality bread and pastries. As you walk in, you’re greeted by the warm aroma of freshly baked bread and an impressive display of various pastries — from croissants to sandwiches and sweet buns.

One of the highlights here is that you can enjoy coffee from COSTA COFFEE, a popular British coffee brand. The café also provides power outlets at the tables, which is perfect if you need to charge your phone or do some laptop work while enjoying your break.

During my visit, I ordered a chocolate croissant made with fermented butter and a cup of blended coffee. The croissant was outstanding — buttery, flaky, and crisp, with a rich aroma that filled the air. It paired perfectly with the smooth, balanced coffee.

One small note: the air conditioning was quite strong, so I found myself wishing I had brought a light jacket. Still, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. Even though I visited on a Sunday afternoon, the café wasn’t crowded, and I could quietly enjoy my coffee while working on my laptop.
If you’re around Hisaya Odori Park or the Sakae area, BAKERY Kyoto Katsurabettei is a great place to take a break, recharge, and experience a bit of Kyoto flavor right in the heart of Nagoya.
