About Chishu – A Popular Dim Sum Spot in Nagoya

Chishu is a dim sum restaurant in Yabachō that I had always been curious about. On weekends, it’s always full, and I used to look at it from the main street, wondering what it was like inside.
This time, I finally had the chance to visit on a weekday at lunchtime. I’ll share what the restaurant is like, along with some photos.
Location and Access – How to Get to Senshu in Yabachō
Yabachō Station (Meijō Subway Line):
Take Exit 4, and you’ll find Senshu immediately outside—it’s only about 100 meters away, near the Parco department store.
What’s on the Menu – A Look at the All-You-Can-Eat Dim Sum Selection

You can see the all-you-can-eat menu in photos. Here are some pictures I took at the restaurant. The dish names are written in kanji, but thanks to the photos, you can probably get a good idea of what each item

Recommended Dishes to Try at Senshu

Since it was all-you-can-eat, I just kept eating xiaolongbao nonstop. I was so focused on eating that the photos I took aren’t the best—but hopefully they still give you an idea.
The xiaolongbao were packed with hot, flavorful soup and absolutely delicious.

This is “Yodare-dori,” a slightly spicy cold chicken dish with tender, juicy meat. It’s also very delicious.

I enjoyed the “Hitorijime Harusame Salad” and the Mapo Tofu. The Mapo Tofu has a strong Sichuan pepper flavor that leaves a gentle, lingering spiciness.
It’s the kind of dish that makes you want a bowl of plain white rice alongside. I’d even want to go back just to eat this Mapo Tofu again.

Steamed yuba rolls with oyster sauce. The yuba is light and chewy, and this dish is delicious as well.

Steamed spare ribs with fermented black beans. The dish has quite a few bones, so it’s a bit tricky to eat, but the rich, savory flavor is addictive.
This one also makes you want to have some plain white rice on the side.

Finally, I enjoyed the desserts—almond tofu and mango pudding. After that, I was completely full.
Price and Dining System – How It Works
The all-you-can-eat course costs ¥2,980 and includes over 30 dim sum items.
Orders are placed by speaking directly to the staff. Since there are photos on the menu, I think you’ll be able to communicate just fine, even if you don’t speak much Japanese.
Atmosphere and Seating – What to Expect Inside

Since it was a weekday, there were a few people who looked like office workers. On weekends, the restaurant is usually busy with families and couples. Reservations are definitely a must on weekends.
While weekdays can be less crowded at times, it’s still a good idea to make a reservation just in case. If you do reserve, be sure to arrive on time.
