Hidden Kshitigarbha at a narrow street
I was walking near Shikemichi in Nagoya and found a place where a small Jizo statue(Kshitigarbha) is enshrined, so I wanted to introduce it. Shikemichi is an area near Nagoya Station where historical buildings are preserved. Following a narrow path from there, I found it quietly standing. The enshrined Jizo statue was apparently discovered 150 years ago when a well was being dug. The year is inscribed on the statue, indicating that it was made 150 years before that. In other words, from a modern perspective, it’s a 300-year-old Jizo statue, quietly and peacefully enshrined. The street is quiet, with a very nice atmosphere. When you visit Shikemichi, I recommend taking a detour to say hello to the Jizo statue.
