Nagoya shrine – Calm shrine next to Nagoya Toshogu

Nagono Shrine is a very old shrine, reportedly dating back to the year 911. However, it seems that the shrine was originally located in Marunouchi erea and was relocated to its current site in 1876. The current location is next to Nagoya Toshogu Shrine. Alongside Nagoya Toshogu, it is quietly known among locals as a famous spot for cherry blossoms. I also visited in April 2024, right when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Unlike popular cherry blossom spots like Tsuruma Park and Meijo Park, it was less crowded and quiet, allowing me to enjoy the arrival of spring in peace.

Within the grounds of Nagono Shrine, there is a small shrine with many red torii gates lined up, similar to the feel of Fushimi Inari in Kyoto.
