Kannon Coffee Opens in the Former Tully’s Location
Kannon Coffee has opened on the first floor of the Science Museum of Electricity in Fushimi, Nagoya. Until 2021, this space was occupied by Tully’s Coffee. After Tully’s closed that year, the spot remained vacant, giving the area a rather lonely feel.
In Japan, it’s often quite difficult for a new café or restaurant of the same type to move into a vacant spot. You sometimes see similar businesses try multiple times, only to close down again. Still, Kannon Coffee has decided to take on the challenge here.
Kannon Coffee is best known for its original shop in Osu, but it has been expanding in recent years. In November 2023, they opened a new branch near Nagoya Station.

I visited this Kannon Coffee in late February 2025.
The café is located in the open atrium near the entrance of the museum. Its wood-themed interior creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere.

Free Wi-Fi is available. You can easily connect by scanning the QR code next to the return counter. There are no power outlets, so it’s not ideal for laptop work.

When you place your order, you’ll receive a pager. Once it buzzes, you pick up your order—just like in a food court.

I had a café latte, which had a mild, gentle flavor. Since the café is located in the atrium, the heating doesn’t seem to work very well, so there were about two electric heaters set up.
Although it was a Saturday afternoon and the café had just opened, about half of the seats were still available. Fushimi has many cafés, but they’re often full. I think Kannon Coffee could be a great hidden spot to find a seat.
