Delicious Lunch Near Hisaya Odori Park: My Experience at Itaricchi, a Classic Italian Restaurant in Nagoya

If you are looking for a great lunch near Hisaya Odori Park in Nagoya, I recommend Itaricchi, a long-established Italian restaurant in the city’s Higashi Ward. Founded in 1969, this restaurant has been loved by locals for decades and is a wonderful place to enjoy authentic Italian flavors when you want something different from Japanese cuisine.
Location and Atmosphere

Itaricchi is about a 10-minute walk from Hisaya Odori Park, located along the Iida Kaidō, a historic Edo-period road that runs diagonally through Nagoya’s otherwise grid-like streets. The building is stylish and clean, giving a modern yet welcoming feel.
My Lunch Experience

I visited Itaricchi on a weekday around 11:30 am. At first, there were only a few guests, but the restaurant quickly filled up with many people—a sign of its popularity.
For my meal, I ordered the Pasta Set with octopus and eggplant (¥1,300). The pasta was freshly made, chewy, and perfectly matched with the octopus. The side bread was also excellent. My companion chose the Australian beef steak set (limited to 10 servings per day), which came with rice, vegetables, and dessert. I tried one slice of the steak, and it was perfectly cooked with a rich, lean flavor. I noticed that many other guests arriving later also ordered this dish, confirming that it is one of Itaricchi’s most popular choices.

Great Value in Nagoya
While Itaricchi’s dinner courses are more upscale and likely used for business dinners by local companies, lunchtime offers great value. Being able to enjoy high-quality Italian cuisine at such a well-regarded restaurant for just ¥1,300 felt like a bargain.
Why You Should Visit
If you are traveling in Nagoya and want a delicious lunch near Hisaya Odori Park, Itaricchi is an excellent choice. It’s especially appealing if you’ve been eating mostly Japanese food and are looking for something different. Since the restaurant is popular, I recommend arriving a little earlier to secure your seat and enjoy a relaxed meal.
