Discovering Bio Terrace by Chance
On the day I visited, two lively festivals — the Shikemichi Autumn Festival and the Paris Festival in Endoji Shopping Street — were taking place in Nagoya. I decided to take a stroll from Hisaya Odori Park toward Shikemichi to enjoy the festive atmosphere. On the way, while walking through the business district of Marunouchi, I unexpectedly came across a vegan restaurant called Bio Terrace.
I’m not a vegan myself, but I’ve always been curious about vegan cuisine, so I decided to give it a try.
A Cozy Restaurant Hidden on the Third Floor

The entrance is a bit tricky to find, but once you locate the narrow staircase and climb up to the third floor, you’ll discover a bright and beautifully designed restaurant. Including the terrace area, there are about 20 seats in total.

Marunouchi is known as Nagoya’s financial district, so naturally, it was quiet around 1 p.m. on a Saturday. There were only two other customers besides me, making the atmosphere calm and relaxing.

How to Order

Unlike many restaurants in Japan where you pay after the meal, Bio Terrace uses a prepayment system. Don’t worry — the menu has clear photos and prices, so even first-time visitors will find it easy to order.
I chose the Tofu Burger Lunch Set, priced at 1,980 yen.
Clean and Relaxing Atmosphere

The interior is spotless, and the background music perfectly matches the relaxing mood. Water and lemon-infused water are available for self-service. It’s easy to distinguish between them since they’re placed side by side.

Other drinks like coffee and tea are displayed nearby, but those are not part of the lunch set, so keep that in mind.
There was only one staff member working that day, so it took about 15 minutes for my food to arrive — which felt perfectly reasonable considering the freshly prepared meal.
The Taste of the Tofu Burger

The tofu burger had a surprisingly satisfying flavor. Although tofu gives it a light and healthy texture, the seasoning was rich and well-balanced, making it quite fulfilling.
The salad that came with the set was colorful and delicious, featuring several types of vegetables. I even tried a thin, sprout-like ingredient I had never seen before — not something you’d typically find in supermarkets — with a unique and pleasant texture.
A Great Vegan Option in Central Nagoya

Bio Terrace is located about a 10-minute walk from Hisaya Odori Station, making it easily accessible for those staying near Sakae or Hisaya Odori Park.
Vegan restaurants are still relatively rare in Nagoya, so finding one as stylish and high-quality as Bio Terrace was a wonderful surprise. Even for non-vegans like me, it’s a place worth visiting for a healthy and refreshing lunch experience.
