If you’re looking to step out of the station and explore some uniquely Japanese spots nearby, here’s a list of recommended places for a short walk and cultural experience.
Shikemichi
Shikemichi is a historic area near Nagoya Station that miraculously escaped damage during the U.S. air raids in World War II. As a result, many historical buildings remain intact. It’s just a 15-minute walk from Nagoya Station, making it a convenient spot for visitors.
Endoji shopping street
The Endoji Shopping Street developed after the end of World War II and retains the atmosphere of the 1970s and 1980s. In recent years, the area has been hosting events to attract visitors, gradually bringing in more people. Unique cafes and bars designed to match the old townscape have also opened, making it an interesting area to explore. During weekday daytime hours, the street is relatively quiet.
