Trying “Asakuma Curry” in Osu, Nagoya

While exploring Osu in Nagoya, I came across a new restaurant called Asakuma Curry, which opened in August 2025. Asakuma is originally a steakhouse chain founded in Aichi, but I didn’t know they had a curry restaurant until I saw this place.
I stopped by around 4 p.m. before heading to the Higashi Betsuin Night Market (Obon Festival). I was already hungry, so it was the perfect chance to try it out.
Ordering was done at a touchscreen kiosk near the entrance, which was easy to use. I went for a large beef curry for 980 yen. The restaurant was stylish inside, though the passageways were a bit narrow, so I had to be careful not to bump into things. At that time, there were only three customers including myself, making it a calm atmosphere.

Since it’s curry, the food arrived quickly. The flavor was rich with a nice balance of spice—not too mild, not too hot. The beef wasn’t in huge portions, but the serving size felt just right for an adult man with the large portion.
A few details stood out:
- The tea had a fruity aroma, which was refreshing.
- The side pickles tasted like sushi ginger (gari) and went surprisingly well with the curry.
For less than 1,000 yen, I left full and satisfied. It’s a convenient and affordable option if you’re in Osu and want a quick but tasty meal before sightseeing or heading to a festival.
